The Smokies

On Monday morning we headed into Great Smokey National Park. We drove past streams with families playing in waterfalls, horseback riders, children tubing down the rivers, cyclists on bike trails, and an abundant picnickers, all tucked in these Appalachian Mountains. We were not surprised that this is the most visited National park in the country. We picnicked literally on a waterfall, hiked to another fall and watched the steam rise off the mountains after a rainstorm, which is how this area got it's name.
Our day was too short, but since we know that we are moving closer to this area, we will be sure to visit again.

From a Different Perspective

Sophia "Mom, I have something to tell you. I have decided that I am going to become Catholic. I really want to light the candles. If Bishop Ainge or Bishop White will put candles in our church, then I will be Mormon. But if not, I am going to be Catholic."

Annelise (from the back seat, while helping me make a very tight turn) "Oh mom, you don't have to worry about the car over on this side. It already has some scratches on it."

Ezra (after watching me pay a $50 toll in Spain) "My favorite part of driving on the roads is paying the money to the people. When I grow up, I am going to be the man who takes all of the money. Then I will have lots of money!"

Sophia (In Siena's Duomo) "Can I please, please, please have a coin to light the candles?"

Me "These candles are only for Catholics to light."

Sophia "Well, where are the Mormon candles?"

Me "Okay. What did we learn about the Vatican? Who can tell me which Roman Emperor began the process of building it?"

Sophia "Hmmmmm . . . Andrew Jackson?"

Sophia "Look! We are above the clouds!"

Ezra "Wow! We are in outerspace!"

Sophia "No, Ezra, technically we are in heaven!"

Annelise "Oh Mom look! It's security. I love going through security!"
