The Wild West
The Camargue National Park is a harsh windswept wetland along the south west of France. It is the antithesis of what I expected to find in this country. When I read about the area, it's pink flamingoes, black bulls and French cowboys were intriguing, so we planned a day to explore the place. We found light houses, that we walked to, collecting rocks along the way.
We tracked down the bulls, with horns uniquely pointing forward. They are used in French bullfighting, which is a style of fighting that spares the bulls and returns them back to the Camargue.
We rode the ancient Camargue horses, which are born black and turn white as they age. (Very sadly, Sophia was too big to ride the ponies and too small to ride the horses! What worse news could she hear?)
And we quietly crept along the banks of the bays and streams to get close to the pink flamingoes.
It didn't feel like a day in France, but it was interesting to see the diversity of this area.

That's a pretty unique side of France you guys saw. I hope Sophia wasn't too upset, although I can only imagine, knowing how much she likes horses.
Please wish Emilie a happy birthday from all of us! She is such a sweet, charming girl, and the photos of her in this post are beautiful. She has gorgeous, long blond hair and such a pretty, peach complexion. Our condolences to Sophia--what a blow! Love, Mom
Wow, I feel for Sophia, but what I cool day! I love the sign showing the bull chasing someone.
