Toledo

After planning our trip to Europe, I came across a list of the top 25 things to do in Europe. I read the list and found that, except for two items that were not child appropriate, every suggestion was part of our plan. Toledo, a walled village that is a World Heritage Site about 45 minutes outside of Madrid, was listed as one of those top 25 things to experience in Europe. As soon as we arrived, we could understand why. This city had the perfect balance of authentic charm and lively shops and restaurants.
We moved our schedule around a bit before coming and ended up here on a Sunday afternoon. I should have rechecked the opening times for the sites that we hoped to visit, because when we arrived we found that some of the things that we had hoped to see closed at 2:00 pm on Sundays. El Greco lived in Toledo and we couldn't see his house and the beautiful Synagogue of El Transito closed before we could get to it.
However, we enjoyed the Catedral Primada Santa Maria de Toledo, wandering the picturesque alleyways and medieval walls and then settling into Plaza de Zocodover for some marzipan, for which the area is known.
The rain soon began to fall, so our afternoon in Toledo came to an end, but we were happy to have been able to spend time in this town.

I'll have to get your list of 25 things sometime... You've seen so much great stuff in Europe that I've never even thought to visit!
